ABUJA – The Yoruba Ni Colorado YNC, an umbrella association representing Yoruba indigenes in Colorado, United States of America, has thrown its weight behind President Bola Tinubu, asserting that there will be “no vacancy in Aso Rock” in the 2027 presidential election.

The group made this declaration on Tuesday in Abuja during a working visit to the Tinubu Support Group TSG.

The visit comes amid recent political developments, including the mobilization of opposition elements under the banner of the African Democratic Congress ADC.

President of YNC, Dr Adetola Obiwole,  stated that the delegation was in Nigeria with a medical team to provide services to underserved communities.

She used the opportunity to urge the National Assembly to expedite constitutional amendments that would facilitate diaspora voting.

“We restate our unalloyed support for the president, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, and we are using this medium to urge the National Assembly to speed up work on legislations that would guarantee diaspora voting,” Dr. Obiwole said.

Echoing her sentiments, General Secretary of YNC, Prince George Sotade,  affirmed the widespread support of Nigerians in the diaspora, particularly those of Yoruba descent, for President Tinubu.

“We don’t need to talk too much. There is no vacancy in the Villa. Anybody running around is just doing that to bring more votes for us, for Asiwaju. The TSG is doing a good job in getting votes for Asiwaju,” Prince Sotade declared.

He added, “This visit is to let the world know that the Yoruba nation in US and by extension all Nigerians in US are behind Asiwaju.”

The Director-General of the TSG, Dr. Umar Tanko Yakasai, expressed gratitude to the YNC for their contributions to the country.

He noted that “Some Nigerians when they travel, they forget home and think that they are in developed countries and so don’t want to associate with the rest of us here.”

Yakasai lauded the YNC for their excellent work in the US, lamenting that public perception often focuses on the few individuals who tarnish Nigeria’s image abroad, rather than acknowledging the majority of hardworking Nigerians excelling in various fields.

He recalled the group’s consistent support for Tinubu during the 2023 elections and thanked them for their unwavering belief.

Dr. Yakasai encouraged the YNC members to mobilize and return home to vote, emphasizing that “every vote counts.”

He also appealed to medical professionals in the diaspora to establish advanced mentorship programs for young Nigerian medical practitioners, with the aim of curbing medical tourism.
