KADUNA:  A former Director General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency NIMASA, Dr. Bashir Jamoh, has insisted that former Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, is still a member of the All Progressives Congress APC.

Noting that El-Rufai remains a committed member of the party and a valuable asset, Jamoh, a key APC stalwart, made the remarks while speaking to journalists in Kaduna following a tour of the eight local government areas in the Kaduna North Senatorial Zone.

The tour, he explained, was a strategic move to engage with party loyalists and strengthen the party’s base ahead of the upcoming bye-election and the 2027 general elections.

“As far as we are concerned, Malam Nasir El-Rufai is still very much in the APC,” Jamoh stated. “We are yet to reach the point where we will say farewell to him.”

Jamoh emphasized El-Rufai’s immense contributions to the party, noting his eight years as governor under the APC platform.

He advised against drawing conclusions from recent reports linking the former governor to the African Democratic Congress ADC, stating, “You don’t name a child until there is a successful delivery. Let’s wait and see how the ADC process unfolds.”

He reiterated that despite defection being a common part of democratic politics, the APC remains strong in Kaduna State and nationwide.

“APC remains the field marshal of Nigerian politics,” he declared, highlighting the party’s resilience and grassroots support.

Jamoh also addressed the political relationship between President Bola Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani, describing it as a “political marriage” that must be protected and nurtured.

“Tinubu is our partner in this political marriage, and we are committed to making it work,” he said.

Responding to calls from his constituents to run for the Kaduna North Senatorial seat in 2027, Jamoh confirmed that he has written to stakeholders to seek their advice and prayers.
