The Controller of the Federal Fire Service, FCT Command, Suleiman M. Anas, gave the assurance on Thursday at the command headquarters in Kubwa during the decoration ceremony for officers promoted through the 2025 senior promotion examination conducted by the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Board.

Among those promoted were Chief Superintendent of Fire Aisha Aliu, the command’s Public Relations Officer, Superintendent of Fire Barnabas Anyam, and Deputy Superintendent of Fire Naimat Omeiza Ajayi.

Anas said the mass promotion had significantly boosted the morale of officers and men of the command and would translate directly into improved service delivery and greater commitment to the protection of lives and property across the Federal Capital Territory. He explained that the beneficiaries included officers elevated across various cadres, describing the exercise as unprecedented in the history of the FCT Command.

“This is the highest number of beneficiaries of a promotion since the inception of this Command,” Anas said, as he expressed deep appreciation to the Controller-General of the Federal Fire Service, Samuel Adeyemi Olumode, for his role in ensuring the success of the promotion exercise.

The FCT fire boss stressed that timely promotion was a critical motivation for personnel, noting that it encouraged officers to give their best to the Service. “It is natural that when Officers enjoy their promotion as and when due, they are motivated to give their best to the Service,” he said, adding that “it is therefore not out of place to use this opportunity to assure residents of FCT that our Men are in high morale by virtue of this promotion and are ready to give their 101% in ensuring the safety of lives and property in FCT.”

While acknowledging that the command’s response to emergencies had already been swift, Anas assured residents that the renewed motivation from the promotion would further improve response time. “Our response to fires and other emergencies has been very swift, but with this additional morale booster, it will be swifter,” he said.

He appealed to residents of the territory to cooperate with the Service by observing safety measures and promptly alerting firefighters whenever emergencies occur. “All we request from residents of FCT is to be safety conscious and never hesitate to call our emergency numbers when there is emergency,” Anas said, emphasising that “the earlier the emergency call, the swifter the response.”

The event was attended by heads of defence, security, intelligence and emergency response agencies in the Federal Capital Territory, who joined the Federal Fire Service in celebrating the newly promoted officers.
