ABUJA: Following the adoption of the African Democratic Congress ADC by the anti-Bola Tinubu coalition ahead of the 2027 general election, the coalition has refuted claims that its application for the registration of All Democratic Alliance ADA as a political party has been abandoned

Secretary of the Coalition’s Sub-Committee on New Party Registration, Dr Umar Ardo, who disclosed this on Sunday in Abuja, clarified that the coalition is pursuing a two-pronged strategy for the 2027 general elections.

Despite the coalition’s recent adoption of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as a platform, Ardo emphasized that the ADA registration process with the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC is still active.

He acknowledged that the appointment of Senator David Mark as ADC interim national chairman might have mistakenly suggested ADC was the sole focus.

“Our application is still undergoing INEC’s processes and procedures. I believe by next week, we will get clarity,” Ardo stated, referencing INEC’s recent announcement about testing its party registration portal.

He expressed strong confidence that ADA would ultimately form the government in 2027, citing widespread dissatisfaction with the current administration.

Ardo noted that the feasibility committee, chaired by former Rivers State governor, Rotimi Amaechi, views registering a new political party as a strategic move to redefine the opposition, unite stakeholders and mobilize public sentiment.

“This approach aims to create an authentic alternative to existing political forces and inspire hope among Nigerians, ensuring they avoid repeating ‘mistakes of 2023′”, he stated.
