
ABUJA: The Federal Capital Territory FCT Police Command has arrested several individuals following a land dispute which led to civil unrest in the Kuchibyi community, located in the Byazhin area of Kubwa.
Police officials confirmed that the situation has been brought under control and an investigation is underway.
A statement by the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, indicated that the police received a distress call about the disturbance.
She said Divisional Police Officers DPOs from both the Byazhin and Kubwa divisions quickly responded to the scene to de-escalate the conflict.
Meanwhile, the FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Ajao S. Adewale, has strongly condemned the actions of some youths who reportedly attacked police officers who were attempting to restore peace.
Adewale issued a stern warning, stating that the police would not tolerate such behavior and would take firm action against anyone who assaults law enforcement personnel.
The police clarified that the unrest was a communal dispute and not a direct conflict with its personnel.
The command urged young people in the FCT to be law-abiding and avoid actions that could incite violence, emphasizing the police’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all residents.
