ENUGU: A Chief Magistrates Court in Enugu has remanded a well-known native doctor, Levi Obieze (also known as E dey Play, E dey Show), and two other suspects for alleged kidnapping and murder.
The suspects, identified as Sebastian Emeka Offor and Odinamkpa Ejike, were arraigned on seven counts.
Magistrate O.S. Chukwuani ordered them to be held at the Correctional Service Center in Enugu and adjourned the case until August 20, 2025.
The case file has been sent to the Director of Public Prosecution for legal advice.
Obieze, the primary suspect, was arrested on May 29, 2025, by operatives of the Nigeria Immigration Service NIS at the Gbaji checkpoint along the Badagry-Seme Road as he attempted to flee the country on a motorcycle.
His arrest was prompted by intelligence linking him to the kidnapping of a 13-year-old girl, Okoye Ukamaka, in the Isiagu Community of Enugu State.
Authorities also discovered decomposing bodies at his shrine in Ishiagu, Ezeagu Local Government Area.
The native doctor is alleged to have buried people alive to maintain the potency of his charms.
Following the discovery of his crimes, Obieze’s property was set ablaze and demolished by government authorities.
The Enugu State House of Assembly also brought a motion to check the activities of fake native doctors in the state.
