LOKOJA: The Kogi State government has approved the creation of three new traditional stools and reinstated a suspended monarch, in a move to reinforce the state’s traditional institutions.
This decision was announced by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Barrister Salami Ozigi Deedat, following a State Executive Council meeting.
The newly created traditional stools are the Ohiekura of Osara, the Ohireba Anebira of Lokoja, and the Ohi of Eganyi, which will now be known as the Ohi of Ajaokuta and will serve as the Chairman of the Ajaokuta Local Government Traditional Council.
In a related development, the state government has lifted the suspension of His Royal Highness Boniface Musa, the Onu Ife of Omala.
The monarch, who also chairs the Omala Local Government Traditional Council, was reinstated after expressing remorse for the actions that led to his suspension.
According to Barrister Deedat, these decisions are a reflection of the commitment of the Governor Ododo administration to “preserving cultural heritage, promoting peace and enhancing the role of traditional rulers in community development” throughout the state.
