ADO EKITI: Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has dissolved his State Executive Council, with immediate effect.

The announcement, made on Sunday evening through a statement from the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Habibat Adubiaro, directs all affected commissioners and special advisers to hand over their duties to the most senior civil servant in their respective ministries.

Governor Oyebanji expressed his gratitude to the departing officials and extended his best wishes for their future endeavors.

The reshuffle, however, was not a complete sweep. Several key officials were exempted from the dissolution. The commissioners for Justice, Health, Agriculture, Education, Works, and Trade will all retain their positions. Also staying on are the Special Advisers for Special Education and Lands.

Furthermore, several directors-general were also retained, including those from the Office of Transformation and Service Delivery OTSD, the Sustainable Development Goals SDGs and Project Monitoring office, and the Bureau of Public Procurement BPP.

While the governor’s office did not provide a reason for the cabinet shake-up, sources suggest it could be a strategic move in preparation for the upcoming gubernatorial primaries scheduled for October 2, 2025.
