ABUJA: Former Sokoto State Governor and ex-Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, has been granted administrative bail by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC following an interrogation over alleged large-scale financial impropriety.
Tambuwal is being investigated for reportedly authorising the withdrawal of about ₦189 billion during his tenure as governor.
A senior EFCC official, who spoke off the record, disclosed that the former governor was freed after providing key information to investigators.
“He has been granted administrative bail. We have obtained the necessary details from him, and he will be leaving our headquarters once he fulfils the bail requirements,” the official said.
EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, confirmed the development on Tuesday night but declined to provide further details.
Tambuwal honoured the EFCC’s invitation on Monday, August 12, 2025, arriving at the agency’s Abuja headquarters at exactly 11:16am.
