ADO-EKITI: Tragedy has struck in Efon Alaaye, Ekiti State, following the death of a woman identified as Modupe Alasin after being brutally assaulted by her husband during a domestic dispute.
Eyewitnesses told reporters that the quarrel began when the husband accused Modupe of delaying their trip to the farm. In anger, he allegedly subjected her to severe flogging while she cried and pleaded for mercy.
The source added that after the assault, the man instructed her to fetch water from a nearby stream. Sadly, she collapsed from exhaustion and died on the spot.
Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer in Ekiti, SP Sunday Abutu, said the suspect had been taken into custody as investigations continue.
