MINNA: Councillors of Bosso Local Government Council in Niger State, have suspended the council chairperson, Hajia Ladidi Bawa Bosso, over allegations of financial impropriety and abuse of office.

Her suspension was announced yesterday following a council session held at the local government secretariat in Minna.

According to the legislators, Bawa Bosso was accused of financial mismanagement, harassment, intimidation, extortion, abuse of office and failure to convene statutory council meetings.

They described these alleged actions as violations of her oath of office and gross misconduct.

The suspension notice, titled A Notice of Resolution for the Suspension of the Chairman of Bosso Local Government Area and Demand for Investigation”, was signed by seven of the eleven councillors.

“In line with the Local Government Laws, the formal notice of suspension has been transmitted to His Excellency, the Governor of Niger State, for the constitution of a Committee of Investigation to inquire into the allegations and report its findings within the prescribed period,” the councillors stated.

Efforts to reach the suspended chairman were unsuccessful as her phone lines remained unreachable as at press time.

This development comes barely three weeks after the Chairman of Chanchaga Local Government, Alhaji Aminu Yussuf Ladan, was also suspended by his council’s legislative arm over similar allegations.

A committee headed by Justice Mikhail Abdullahi of the Minna High Court is already probing the allegations against the Chanchaga council boss.
