ABUJA: Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji on Wednesday said his predecessor, Dr Kayode Fayemi and other stakeholders in the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress APC, are united in support of his re-election bid.

Oyebanji stated this at the APC National Secretariat, Abuja, shortly after submitting his nomination and expression of interest forms ahead of the 2026 governorship election.

Responding to reports of disunity in the party, the governor said: “The beauty of democracy is freedom of expression. People are entitled to their opinions, but the massive show of support we have here today does not reflect a divided party. Former governors, deputy governors, National Assembly members, local government chairmen, and other stakeholders are united behind the APC in Ekiti State.”

He emphasized that his relationship with Fayemi remained “cordial and strong,” noting that the former governor remained active in party activities and would attend the forthcoming stakeholders’ meeting in Ekiti.

“Talk of division is mere propaganda. Ekiti APC is united and indivisible,” Oyebanji declared.

Flanked by party leaders, including Senate Majority Leader, Senator Michael Opeyemi Bamidele, the governor highlighted his administration’s achievements under the “continuity for shared prosperity” agenda.

He said nearly 80 percent of inherited projects had been completed, stressing that “public-funded projects belong to the people and must be delivered.”

On sectoral achievements, Oyebanji said more than 60 communities previously in darkness for nearly 20 years had been reconnected to the national grid. In healthcare, he said the state had upgraded facilities from primary to tertiary levels, while aligning remuneration for doctors and health workers with federal standards.

He also pledged to deepen reforms in the public service and unveiled education as a major focus of his second term agenda.

“My desire is to see electronic boards in all schools in Ekiti State. Education is the pathway to productivity and prosperity, and we will focus on innovation and technology to prepare our people for the 21st century,” he said.

In his remarks, Senator Bamidele lauded the governor’s performance, describing him as a unifying leader.

“This is the first time we are seeing such broad consensus in Ekiti. All stakeholders — past governors, lawmakers, and party leaders — are on the same page. By God’s grace, we look forward to welcoming you all to Ekiti during the primaries on October 27 to witness the progress made,” Bamidele added.
