
Agency Busts Skuchies Factory in Ikorodu, Seizes Meth, Skunk, Ice Across States
ABUJA: The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested an Indian businessman, Gupta Ravi Kumar, alongside three Nigerian accomplices—Ogunlana Noah Olanrewaju, Olushola Idrees Kayode, and Bakare Korede Muheeb—in connection with a massive seizure of 2,248,000 tramadol pills at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos.
NDLEA spokesman, Femi Babafemi, disclosed that the shipment, valued at N3.99 billion, was smuggled in from Delhi, India, disguised as multivitamins in 114 cartons and brought in via Ethiopian Airlines on September 8, 2025.
Operatives, who had placed the consignment under surveillance, pounced on a clearing agent and two truck drivers attempting to move it out of the airport on September 11. A follow-up sting the next day led to the arrest of the Indian, Kumar, while he tried to take delivery of the cargo.
Other Major Seizures
Airport Busts: At MMIA, a first-time traveler, Onyeganochi Stanley Ifeanyi, was caught with 900g of skunk hidden in crayfish en route to Doha. His confession led to the arrest of Ohadiegwu Anthony Uchenna, who was found with another 200g of the same drug in a nearby hotel.
Seaport Operations: At Tincan Port, NDLEA recovered 161 parcels of Canadian Loud (81.7kg) and 1.2kg hashish oil hidden in vehicle parts from Montreal, Canada. Two suspects were arrested, while another consignment of 65kg Loud was intercepted on Third Mainland Bridge.
Courier Intercepts: Meth concealed in a picture frame bound for Gabon and 1.1kg Loud hidden in decoders headed for the UAE were seized from courier firms.
Ikorodu Raid: A skuchies factory was uncovered in Caritas, Ibeshe, producing cannabis-laced drinks. Over 6,029 bottles, 4,232kg cannabis, and factory manager Joy Awosika were seized.
Other Arrests Nationwide:
Abuja: Dispatch rider caught with cocaine and Loud.
Oyo: Three women held with 17kg skunk.
Kano: 100,000 tramadol pills, 196 litres Akuskura, and other substances seized.
Anambra: A couple arrested with 13.9kg meth and 5.3kg skunk.
Yobe: Cannabis recovered from a suspect’s home.
Ogun: Three traffickers nabbed with 394kg skunk in a joint border operation.
Edo: 16,966kg skunk plantation destroyed, with four suspects arrested.
Advocacy and Commendation
Meanwhile, NDLEA continued its War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) sensitization across schools, motor parks, mosques, and workplaces nationwide.
NDLEA Chairman, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd.), commended the operatives for the string of high-profile arrests and seizures, urging them to sustain their “balanced approach” in the agency’s drug control campaign.
