KADUNA: The Kaduna State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has expelled its Deputy Chairman, Ahmed Tijani Mustapha, alongside eight other senior officials over alleged acts of gross misconduct and insubordination.
The decision was ratified at a meeting of the State Executive Committee (SEC) held on Tuesday in Kaduna.
In a communiqué issued after the meeting, the SEC said the expelled members — including the State Publicity Secretary, Engr. Idris Musa — were found guilty of convening unauthorized meetings, falsifying documents, extorting party members, and engaging in activities capable of bringing the party into disrepute.
Other expelled officials are the State Vice Chairman (Zone 1), Sulaiman Abdullahi; State Treasurer, Gambo Sani; State Financial Secretary, Magaji Maiwada; State Legal Adviser, Danlami Dabai Musa; State Coordinator for Persons With Disabilities (PWD), Saura Muhammed; Deputy Youth Leader, Ibrahim Muhammed; and one Mansur Gaga.
Speaking with journalists after the meeting, the State Chairman of the ADC, Elder Patrick D. Ambut, said the disciplinary action was necessary to preserve the integrity of the party and enforce internal discipline.
He accused the Deputy Chairman of abusing his office and impersonating party officials — acts he said threatened the unity and stability of the ADC in Kaduna and the North-West zone.
“As law-abiding members of the African Democratic Congress, we remain committed to upholding the constitution of our great party and ensuring discipline among our ranks,” Ambut declared.
The SEC further announced that the Deputy State Publicity Secretary, Mr. Alex Tagwai, has been appointed as Acting Publicity Secretary pending further organizational adjustments.
