ABUJA: In a significant boost to Nigeria’s internal security, the Nigeria Police Force NPF announced on Sunday that its operatives have successfully neutralized three armed bandits and recovered ten AK-47 rifles during intelligence-led operations across several states in July 2025.
This success is part of the Force’s ongoing offensive against violent crimes and armed criminal syndicates.
The Force Intelligence Department-Intelligence Response Team FID-IRT conducted a series of coordinated tactical operations in Taraba, Plateau, Adamawa, Nasarawa, and Niger States. According to a press release by ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, Force Public Relations Officer, three armed bandits were fatally subdued during various armed encounters after attempting to escape. The bandits reportedly abandoned their weapons and fled into the surrounding terrain with gunshot injuries.
The recovered ten AK-47 rifles have been linked to a range of criminal activities, including kidnappings, armed robberies, gunrunning, and cattle rustling, highlighting the impact of these operations on dismantling criminal networks.
Follow-up tactical operations are currently underway to track, identify, and apprehend other fleeing members of the syndicates who have been implicated as masterminds behind deadly attacks on communities in the affected states.
Inspector-General of Police IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun reaffirmed the Force’s unwavering commitment to national security.
He stated that the Nigeria Police Force will continue to sustain and intensify intelligence-led operations aimed at dismantling all criminal enterprises.
The IGP emphasized the Force’s constitutional duty to protect life and property across Nigeria and urged citizens to continue providing actionable intelligence by reporting any suspicious activities to nearby police formations or through official channels.
