
KANO: The Kano State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps NSCDC has arrested two individuals – a drug dealer and a burglar – in two separate operations.
The command’s spokesperson, SC Ibrahim Idris Abdullahi, identified the suspects as Basiru Ahmed, a drug dealer, and Muhammad Abbas, a burglary suspect.
In the first operation, NSCDC operatives, acting on a tipoff, arrested Basiru Ahmed, 42, in the Salanta area of Gwale local government.
Ahmed was caught red-handed with 106 parcels of Indian hemp (Cannabis sativa), and has been handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency NDLEA for further investigation and legal action.
In a separate incident, Muhammad Abbas, 22, was apprehended in Gurungawa, Kumbotso local government.
Abbas, who had been on a security watchlist, was arrested for allegedly breaking into residential homes and stealing valuables.
The suspect will be charged in court after the investigation is completed.
The NSCDC urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to help rid their communities of criminal elements.
