ABUJA: Minister of State in the Federal Capital Territory FCT, Dr Mariya Mahmoud, has reaffirmed the FCT Administration’s commitment to strengthening health services through investments in infrastructure, workforce development and collaboration among healthcare professionals.

Media adviser to the minister, Austin Elemue, in a statement said Dr Mahmoud made the pledge in Abuja during the inaugural summit of the Dental Technologists Registration Board of Nigeria.

She noted the critical role of dental technologists in modern healthcare, particularly as oral health awareness and the demand for advanced prosthetics continue to grow.

The Minister urged dental practitioners to embrace the transformative power of digitization and artificial intelligence.

She called for standardized training to improve global competitiveness and a greater focus on research and local production of dental materials to reduce the country’s dependence on imports.

Mahmoud also challenged participants to engage in strategic discussions that would lead to actionable recommendations for national policy and elevated professional standards.

She reiterated the FCT Administration’s support for initiatives aimed at improving healthcare delivery.

The Registrar of the Dental Technologists Registration Board of Nigeria, Malam Idris Bappah, noted that the summit was a “critical platform” to identify obstacles and propose innovative solutions to strengthen the profession.

The event concluded with merit awards to individuals who have made significant contributions to the profession’s growth.
