ABUJA: The Federal Capital Territory FCT Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps NSCDC has partnered with United Healthcare to deliver free medical services to residents of Jahi community in Abuja.
The health outreach featured free blood pressure checks, HIV screening, and the distribution of essential drugs to children, adults, and the elderly.
Speaking during the flag-off ceremony, the FCT Commandant of NSCDC, Dr. Olusola Odumosu, said the initiative was borne out of the Corps’ awareness of the community’s struggles in accessing adequate healthcare. He explained that the partnership with United Healthcare was aimed at complementing government’s efforts in improving the wellbeing of residents.
“As a grassroots security organisation, we are committed to promoting health, safety, and security. This outreach is our way of showing dedication to the welfare of the people and building stronger ties with the community we serve,” Odumosu said.
The Commandant urged residents of Jahi to support the Corps by providing credible information on criminal activities within their locality, assuring them of strict confidentiality and prompt action.
“We are here to serve you, and your input is invaluable in our fight against criminals and vandals. Together, we can build a safer and more secure environment for all,” he added.
In his response, the Chief of Jahi community, Chief Adamu Dogo (Dagachi Jahi 1), expressed appreciation to the NSCDC for the gesture, describing it as the first of its kind by a security agency in the FCT. He appealed for more of such initiatives to support his people in the future.
Chief Dogo commended Odumosu for pioneering the programme and assured the Corps of the community’s cooperation in matters of security.
