BENIN: The Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has approved the appointment of Prof. Victor Adetimirin Olawale as the new Vice Chancellor of Edo University, Iyamho. The appointment is effective immediately.
The announcement was made in a statement issued Saturday in Benin City, the state capital, by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Musa Ikhilor, Esq.
Prof. Olawale is a distinguished academic and administrator with extensive experience in the Nigerian university system.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, as well as a master’s and a Ph.D. in Plant Breeding and Genetics, all from the University of Ibadan.
He has held numerous leadership positions throughout his career, including Head of Department, Dean of Faculty, and Director of Academic Planning.
The government noted that Prof. Olawale’s wealth of experience, dedication to academic excellence, and visionary leadership are expected to enhance the university’s reputation as a top-tier centre for learning and research.
Prof. Olawale is also widely published in both local and international academic journals and has successfully supervised a large number of postgraduate students.
