ABUJA: The University of Jos Alumni Association Global has extended warm birthday wishes to the former Deputy Governor of Kogi State, Chief Edward David Onoja.
Public Relations Officer of the association, Dr Sunday Musa Onalo, on behalf of the National Executive Council, celebrated Onoja as “a great son of the soil, a proud Josite and an illustrious statesman.”
The association praised Onoja’s life as a “testament to excellence, service, and impact,” highlighting his career as a “seasoned administrator, accomplished banker, astute politician, and grassroots mobilizer.”
It noted that he has consistently demonstrated leadership qualities “anchored on humility, compassion, and dedication to the greater good.”
The alumni body also recognized Onoja as a significant benefactor, describing him as a “pillar of strength” who has generously supported the association with his resources, time, and counsel.
It noted that his “financial and moral support over the years have not only strengthened our association but have also created enduring opportunities for the younger generation of Josites.”
“We celebrate you today not only for the milestones you have attained but for the countless lives you have touched with your humane spirit,” the statement read, adding that Onoja is “a creator of opportunities, a bridge-builder, and a shining example of what it means to lead with both the head and the heart.”
The association also prayed for Onoja’s continued good health, divine wisdom and long life.

Happy birthday to Chief Edward, a great man by some standards. While he was the Deputy Governor of our dear state, we see his influence and people can testify that his was a proper deputy governor and not a robber stamp fellow occupying a position they don’t belong.
His influence may have waned because he is no longer in position of power – such is the reality of politics.
Those that claimed to love him when he was their benefactor has all abandoned him and even forgotten about his birthday today – that is the cruelty of political followership.
In all we do, may we have the courage to stay true to ourselves and never bend the kneel for what we are getting. May we not be loyal to anyone because of our own pocket. May we have the grace and power to call people what they are without the worries they will cut the line of water from our throats.
Happy birthday Chief.
