Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has pledged to restructure and fortify the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state to accommodate the increasing number of new members.

The governor made the announcement during a campaign tour for Joe Ikpea, the APC candidate for the Edo Central senatorial by-election.

During the tour, which took him to Ogwa, Ujogba, and Illeh in Esan West Local Government Area, Governor Okpebholo formally welcomed a large group of defectors to the party.

“When I promised Mr President 2.5 million votes, someone asked me where I was going to get them. But you can see it happening already,” Okpebholo said.

“The number of people I have received as defectors into the APC is more than the number that was there before.”

He added that the party would be “redefined and repositioned” to ensure it is strong enough to support everyone.

Senator Okpebholo also announced that a meeting would be held with the new members to “restrategize.”

The governor was joined on the tour by prominent APC figures, including the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Musa Ikhilor, and the Edo Central Senatorial leader, Gen. Cecil Isekhaigbe (retd).

Governor Okpebholo called on party members to remain united and committed, promising that his administration would continue to strengthen the APC’s grassroots structures to secure future electoral victories.
