The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has announced a new deadline for the enforcement of tinted glass permits, moving the date from August 12 to October 2, 2025.

According to a statement from Force spokesperson DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the grace period was extended due to a significant increase in permit applications.

The extra time will allow the police to carefully review all pending applications, ensuring that permits are only issued to eligible individuals and that national security is maintained.

Adejobi also stated that the extension will give the police a chance to improve their digital and physical verification processes to prevent fraud and misuse of the system.

The police have reminded the public that the official portal is the only place to apply for a permit and warned against using unofficial channels.

Citizens who experience extortion, hidden fees, or unauthorized processing are urged to report it by calling the hotline at 09169967000.

The force emphasized its commitment to balancing public convenience with strong security measures to protect the lives and property of all citizens.
