ABUJA: Nigerian security forces have found more than 30 bodies of terrorists following a recent airstrike in Zamfara State’s Matseri forest.
The bodies were reportedly burned beyond recognition.

According to a source close to the operation, troops from the 1st Brigade, 8th Division, and Nigerian Navy’s Special Boat Service SBS conducted a sweep of the area in Anka Local Government Area on Monday, August 11.

The operation, codenamed “Operation Fasan Yamma,” was supported by the Air Component, which provided aerial cover and guidance.
The source added that in addition to the bodies, the troops discovered over 30 destroyed motorcycles and a large cache of burnt rifles, all destroyed in the air interdiction.
Earlier on Monday, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) confirmed that its aircraft had successfully neutralized several terrorists in a coordinated air and ground assault on August 10.
Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the Director of Public Relations and Information, stated that intelligence had detected over 400 bandits planning to attack a local farming community.
The successful operation, Ejodame noted, was a result of the exceptional synergy between the air and land components of the armed forces, leading to the deaths of several high-profile terrorist leaders and numerous foot soldiers.
