
ABUJA: Edo State is set to benefit from a landmark Federal Government transport infrastructure project, following President Bola Tinubu’s approval of ₦142 billion for the construction of modern bus terminals in six states.
The state Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo had on assumption of office last November fiercely keyed into the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Tinubu.
Minister of Transportation, Senator Sa’idu Ahmed Alkali, who disclosed the development on Wednesday after the Federal Executive Council FEC meeting in Abuja said the project will cut across the six geopolitical zones.
The beneficiary states are Edo (South-South), Ogun (South-West), Gombe (North-East), Kano (North-West), Kogi (North-Central) and Anambra (South-East).
Senator Alkali said the initiative marks the first direct Federal Government intervention in the road transport sector beyond highway construction, adding that the selected locations were chosen for their strong economic potential.
