
KANO: The Kano State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of 288 suspected political thugs allegedly attempting to disrupt the rerun and bye-elections currently taking place in the state.

The Command’s spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Haruna, disclosed this in a statement posted on his verified Facebook page.

He revealed that the suspects were apprehended with dangerous weapons.

“During the rerun/by-election exercise, a total of 288 suspected thugs were arrested in possession of offensive weapons, including a pump-action rifle, locally fabricated guns, knives, cutlasses, and other harmful objects,” Haruna stated.

The police assured residents of their commitment to ensuring a peaceful electoral process while warning troublemakers to steer clear of unlawful activities.
