NNEWI: The Indigenous People of Biafra IPOB has expressed support for an alleged ruling by a Canadian court which reportedly classified Nigeria’s ruling All Progressives Congress APC and the opposition Peoples Democratic Party PDP as terrorist organizations.

Only eight years ago, the President Muhammadu Buhari -led APC administration had proscribed IPOB, declaring it a terrorist organization.

In a statement by its spokesperson, Emma Powerful, IPOB described the purported judgment as a “moral earthquake” and a validation of its long-held position that Nigeria’s political establishment is a “cartel of terror.”

According to the group, the development serves as a global confirmation of what millions of Nigerians privately acknowledge but often fear to voice — that successive governments and dominant political parties in the country have perpetuated systemic violence and oppression.

“This is not merely a court decision; it is a moral reckoning. It exposes to the international community the truth that IPOB has consistently declared: Nigeria’s political class thrives on terror and intimidation”, said Powerful.

The separatist group also warned those opposed to its campaign for self-determination, stressing that history and justice would ultimately catch up with them.

IPOB recalled past atrocities against Biafrans during the Nigerian Civil War, insisting that current insecurity and displacement in northern and western Nigeria are consequences of policies fostered by the same political parties now allegedly branded as terrorists.

The statement further accused both APC and PDP of orchestrating the 2017 proscription of IPOB, which it described as unlawful.

IPOB maintained that the alleged ruling has stripped both parties of “political sanctimony” and subjected them to international disgrace.

“This development marks the beginning of the exposure of Nigeria’s falsehoods before the world,” IPOB declared, adding that the judgment symbolizes a turning point for its struggle and a sign of global recognition for the Biafran cause.

The group declared that its leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, and the Biafran movement cannot be silenced, insisting that the struggle for self-determination “is unstoppable.”
