ABUJA: Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has charged 22 newly promoted Assistant Commandants General ACGs of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps NSCDC to demonstrate renewed dedication, patriotism and integrity in the discharge of their duties.

At a decoration ceremony held in Abuja, the minister, represented by the Secretary of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board CDCFIB, Major General Abdulmalik Jibrin (retd), reminded the senior officers that promotion comes with higher responsibilities.
“Promotion is a call to responsibility that comes with greater accountability. You must live above expectations and mentor the next generation to sustain the good legacies of the Corps,” he said.
Corps spokesman, CSC Afolabi Babawale said the NSCDC Commandant General, Prof. Abubakar Ahmed Audi, also urged the new ACGs to redouble their efforts in confronting emerging security challenges across the country.
He stressed the need for loyalty, professionalism, and integrity, particularly in mentoring their subordinates.
Audi commended the Interior minister for policies that cleared years of promotion backlogs and addressed stagnation within the service.
He added that the reforms had strengthened the capacity of the Corps to respond to security threats, promote economic stability, and improve personnel welfare.
“Under the Renewed Hope Agenda, the Corps has received support that is enhancing collaboration with other security agencies and boosting the morale of our officers,” the Commandant General stated.
The ceremony also featured goodwill messages from senior representatives of the Nigerian Correctional Service NCoS and the Federal Road Safety Corps FRSC, while the oath of allegiance was administered by the NSCDC’s legal department.
In a related development, the Commandant General presented cheques worth ₦5 million to the families of two personnel — CCA Anyamele Justice and AIC Bello Bako Musa — who were killed while on Operation Plug duty in Abia State on February 25, 2025. Audi said the gesture was part of efforts to provide welfare support and relief for the dependents of officers who paid the supreme price in service to the nation.
The event was witnessed by senior security officials, family members of the decorated officers, and representatives of other paramilitary agencies.
