LOKOJA: As Kogi State clocks 34 today, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has assured Kogites that their voices, hopes and yearnings remain at the heart of his administration’s vision for a stronger, more prosperous Confluence State.
In an anniversary message delivered on Wednesday, Ododo described the state’s 34th birthday as both a celebration and a moment of sober reflection, likening it to a personal birthday when one pauses to ask: “Am I truly living up to my age?”
He praised the resilience of the people since the state’s creation in 1991, noting that their collective struggles and triumphs have shaped Kogi’s identity of courage, diversity and boundless potential.
“From Akutupa to Oshokoshoko, from Adavi to Ibaji, from Ajiolo to Gegu—I hear your voices and aspirations for a better and more prosperous Kogi State,” Ododo declared, assuring Kogites that his leadership is driven by their expectations, not just by the mandate of votes.
Noting some of his administration’s ongoing projects, the Governor pointed to improved road networks, remodeled schools, revitalized hospitals and rural development as evidence that Kogi is on a path of transformation. “We may not yet be where we desire to be, but we are certainly no longer where we used to be,” he said.
Looking ahead, Ododo envisioned a state where children enjoy quality education, healthcare is accessible to all, industries thrive and agriculture guarantees food security and wealth for citizens. He emphasized that achieving this dream requires unity, peace and collective sacrifice.
“Your votes gave me the mandate, but I want my service and results to define me,” the Governor said, urging every Kogite to partner with government in building the future.
As the Confluence State enters another year of existence, Ododo extended his goodwill to the people: “Happy 34th Anniversary to Kogi State. The journey ahead is bright and together, we will walk it in hope and in strength.”
