ABUJA: The Department of State Services DSS has grilled a former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami SAN under the late President Muhammadu Buhari administration to help with ongoing investigations into the attack on his convoy in Kebbi State.

The incident, which occurred on September 1, 2025, sparked widespread concern, with many linking the violence to political tensions in the state.

Malami, in a post on his verified Facebook page, disclosed on Monday that the DSS invitation was connected to a petition allegedly instigated by high-profile opposition political elements in Kebbi.

He however expressed appreciation for the professionalism of the DSS in handling the matter.

According to him, the operatives treated him with “dignity and respect” throughout the interrogation process.

The former Justice minister assured the public of his full cooperation with the security agency to ensure that the investigation is concluded successfully.

“I can confirm that I have been invited by the Department of State Services DSS to support investigation over the attack on my person and convoy in Kebbi State on the 1st of September, 2025. The petition is apparently triggered by opposition high-profile political elements in the state. I must commend the DSS for the professional and transparent manner in which they have conducted their inquiry. I was treated with dignity and respect and I remain committed to cooperating fully with the Department to ensure that their investigation is concluded successfully,” Malami said.

The former Attorney-General also reassured his supporters and the people of Kebbi State that he remains committed to peace, rule of law, and democratic values despite political rivalries.

The DSS has not yet released an official statement on the progress of the investigation, but sources indicate that the agency is leaving no stone unturned in uncovering the masterminds of the attack.
