ABUJA: The Federal Capital Territory FCT Police Command has arrested four suspected members of a notorious armed robbery gang linked to a string of violent crimes, including the killing of popular DJ Bash in Abuja.

The arrests followed a series of coordinated operations carried out between September 3 and 19, 2025, at Kagini in Abuja and Madalla in Niger State.

FCT Police spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, confirmed the breakthrough, identifying the suspects as: Ibrahim Shaibu (aka Baba Godes), 28, from Zaria, Kaduna State; Yusuf Salihu, 40, from Kagini, FCT; Awulu Nuhu (aka Zabi), 25, from Keita LGA, Katsina State; and, Usman Yerima (aka Dangrugru), 28, from Jimeta LGA, Adamawa State.

Recovered items include two English pistols, 49 rounds of live 9mm ammunition, a gray Toyota Corolla (2012 model), and 10 Android phones suspected to have been stolen from victims.

According to Adeh, the suspects confessed to several violent crimes, notably the armed robbery of Umar Y. Gowa at Hillside Estate, Dawaki, and the attack on Volcano Peak Court Hotel, Gwarinpa, where guests were robbed and Bashir Dauda, popularly known as DJ Bash, was fatally shot.

Investigations also revealed that the gang had been terrorizing residents of Gwarinpa and Dawaki. CCTV footage reportedly captured one of their brutal attacks, further exposing their operations.

Adeh said the suspects have provided useful leads on other accomplices who remain at large, while efforts are ongoing to track them down.

FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Ajao S. Adewale, praised the Scorpion Squad and other operatives for their professionalism and resilience, assuring residents of the command’s commitment to securing lives and property.

He urged the public to remain vigilant and share credible information with the police through emergency lines: 08032003913, 08061581938.
