
ABUJA: The Federal Capital Territory FCT Police Command has confirmed the recovery of the body of an unidentified woman from Jabi Lake in Abuja.
According to police sources, the incident was reported around 10:37 a.m. on Saturday after a distress call was made from the Jabi Lake Recreation Centre. Detectives immediately rushed to the scene and discovered the lifeless body of a woman, believed to be about 60 years old, floating on the water.
Preliminary investigations revealed that no signs of violence were found on the deceased. A pair of green slippers was also recovered along the bank of the lake.
Due to the decomposed state of the body, the Environmental Health Department was called in for evacuation to prevent possible health risks in the area.
The FCT Police Command stated that investigations are ongoing to ascertain the identity of the deceased and determine the circumstances leading to her death.
The tragic incident has once again raised concerns about safety and security around Jabi Lake in Abuja, a popular recreational spot for residents of the FCT.
