The Federal Government has approved the promotion of 30 Controllers in the Nigerian Correctional Service NCoS to the rank of Assistant Controllers General of Corrections ACGs.

The approval was conveyed by the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board CDCFIB according to a statement from the Nigerian Correctional Service NCoS.

NCoS spokesperson, Abubakar Umar, said the promotions reflect government’s commitment to advancing professional excellence and strengthening leadership within the Service.

The newly promoted officers include 27 general duty officers recognized for their “exceptional dedication, leadership, and operational competence.”

Additionally, three professional officers from the fields of Medical Laboratory Science, Nursing, and Public Health were elevated for their outstanding contributions.

This round of promotions is part of an ongoing reform agenda within the Service, aligning with the “Renewed Hope Agenda” of President Bola Tinubu and the leadership of the Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.

Umar described the minister’s commitment to repositioning the Service for greater efficiency as unprecedented.

The Controller General of Corrections CGC, Sylvester Nwakuche, congratulated the newly promoted officers.

He urged them to redouble their efforts in service delivery and strategic leadership, emphasizing that their new rank is a call to higher responsibility.

The CGC reiterated the Service’s commitment to building a “motivated, disciplined, and professional workforce” capable of meeting the demands of modern correctional management and public safety.
