Tinubu Extends Yelwa’s Tenure as N-HYPPADEC CEO for Final Term

ABUJA: President Bola Tinubu has renewed the tenure of Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq Yelwa as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the National Hydroelectric Power Producing Areas Development Commission (N-HYPPADEC), granting him a second and final four-year term.

The decision was announced in a statement by Segun Imohiosen, Director of Information and Public Relations in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation OSGF.

According to the statement, the tenure renewal complies with Section 93 of the Electricity Act, 2023.

President Tinubu charged Yelwa to build on the achievements of his first tenure, embrace innovation, and demonstrate renewed commitment to the Commission’s mandate of transforming communities affected by hydroelectric power projects.

During his initial term, Yelwa oversaw projects aimed at boosting infrastructure, improving social amenities, and enhancing livelihoods across the operational areas of N-HYPPADEC.

The President expressed confidence that Yelwa’s continued leadership will consolidate these gains and further advance the Commission’s impact.
