Army Reshuffles Top Command, Appoints New GOCs, Provost Marshal, CMI, Others

ABUJA: The Nigerian Army has announced a series of new postings and appointments in what it described as a minor shake-up of its top hierarchy.

The reorganization affects Principal Staff Officers PSOs, General Officers Commanding GOCs and other senior officers across key formations nationwide.

Under the new arrangement, Major General Chinedu Nnebeife has been appointed General Officer Commanding GOC 2 Division, Ibadan, while Major General A.S.K. Wase takes over as GOC 1 Division, Kaduna.

Major General M.O. Erebelu has been named the new Provost Marshal of the Army, just as Major General A.A. Idris assumes office as the Chief of Military Intelligence CMI.

In addition, Major General J.E. Osifo has been appointed Director General of the Nigerian Army School of Finance and Administration NASFA, while Major General A.A. Adeyinka takes charge as Chief of Logistics at Army Headquarters.

Other postings include Major General Adetoba, who now heads the Nigerian Army College of Logistics and Management NACOLM and Major General Ugiagbe, the immediate past CMI, who moves to his new role as Chief of Army Standards and Evaluation CASE.

The statement also named Major General Akesode as Head of Mission, Monitoring, Verification and Compliance in the Tigray Region of Ethiopia, while Major General M.T. Abdullahi has been appointed to lead the Nigerian Army Cyber Warfare Centre NACWC.

The Army headquarters said all appointments and redeployments take effect between August 19 and 25, 2025.
