LOKOJA: The Management of Kogi United and Confluence Queens Football Clubs has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Alhaji Ahmed Momohsani Ododo, father of Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo.

In a condolence message issued on Monday, Chairman of both state-owned clubs, Honourable Abdulmalik Isah (Dolly), described the passing of the Ododo family patriarch as “shocking and demoralizing,” noting his immense contributions to his family, community and the state.

“The older Ododo was a man of the people, a community leader, and a personality who shaped and impacted many lives during his sojourn on earth,” Isah stated.

“As a club, our hearts go out to the executive governor and the entire Ododo family in this difficult time.”

He added that although losing a father is painful, the family and the state can take solace in the fact that the late Ododo lived a worthy life, raising a courageous leader in the governor.

Isah prayed for God to grant the governor and his family the fortitude to bear the loss and for the deceased to find eternal rest in paradise.

Similarly, the Team Manager of Kogi United, Mr. Itodo Michael Olachene, said the news of the governor’s father’s passing came as a “rude shock” that has plunged the entire state into mourning.

He prayed for divine comfort for the governor, his family, and the people of Kogi State.

The late Alhaji Ahmed Momohsani Ododo died in Abuja on Monday, August 18, 2025, after a brief illness. He was 83.
