LOKOJA: The Peoples Democratic Party PDP in Kogi Central Senatorial District has suspended Senator Ahmed Ogembe over allegations of anti-party activities, including claims that he announced the collapse of the party’s structure in Okene Local Government Area in favour of the African Democratic Congress ADC.
In a suspension letter jointly signed by the PDP Zonal Vice Chairman (Central) and Chairman of the Okene Caretaker Committee, Hon. Anthony Akuvada Momoh, the party accused Ogembe of gross misconduct, betrayal of trust and acts capable of weakening the PDP in the state.
“The attention of the Kogi Central Senatorial District Caretaker Committee has been drawn to your activities, which amount to grave allegations of anti-party conduct. These actions not only undermine party loyalty but also threaten the survival of our great party in Kogi State,” the letter stated.
Citing Sections 58 (1) and 59 of the PDP Constitution (2017 as amended), the leadership said Ogembe’s conduct violated core principles of the party, stressing that such actions could not be overlooked.
The letter further declared: “Accordingly, in line with the powers vested in the party leadership and pursuant to the recommendations before us, you, Senator Ahmed Ogembe, are hereby suspended from the Peoples Democratic Party with immediate effect, pending the conclusion of investigations by the Disciplinary Committee.”
