ABUJA: A fresh row has broken out between the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company AEDC and the Transmission Company of Nigeria TCN over the cause of a blackout affecting parts of Niger State.
On Wednesday, September 3, AEDC issued a public notice to customers in Bosso Low-Cost, Bosso Estate, Tudun Fulani, Rafin Yashi, Okada Road and surrounding communities, attributing the outage to a “technical fault” it claimed was being fixed by TCN engineers.
But in a swift and strongly worded response on Thursday, TCN dismissed the claim, stressing that its facilities had been running smoothly.
“The Maikunkele feeder serving these areas is not in any way experiencing outages and has been fully operational since 00:00hrs on September 3, 2025, with adequate load supply maintained throughout,” said TCN’s spokesperson, Ndidi Mbah.
TCN urged AEDC to “properly verify information before going public,” accusing the Disco of misleading customers.
The blame game has left residents of the affected communities in confusion, as both agencies trade accusations instead of providing clarity on when supply would be restored
