ABUJA: The Federal Government has launched a Post-Amnesty Voluntary Return and Documentation Programme (PAVRDP) for foreign nationals who failed to take advantage of the recently concluded Expired Visa Initiative (Amnesty), which ended on September 30, 2025.
In a statement issued Friday night in Abuja, the Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), ACI Akinsola Akinlabi, said the programme will commence on October 13, 2025.
According to the Service, the scheme targets foreigners who have overstayed their visas or breached immigration regulations without regularizing their status.
The NIS directed all affected persons to report to the nearest Immigration Command for registration and documentation, noting that cases would be assessed individually under the Immigration Act, 2015 and other relevant laws.
The Service warned that foreigners who refuse to comply risk arrest, detention, deportation, and long-term entry bans.
It also cautioned individuals, companies, and organizations against aiding or harbouring irregular migrants, stressing that such offences remain punishable under Nigerian law.
Reaffirming its commitment to orderly migration, the NIS said the post-amnesty initiative is designed to enforce compliance with immigration laws while strengthening national security through effective migration management.
