ABUJA: A fresh opinion poll by the African Development Institute of Research Methodology ADIRM has projected a remarkable 85 percent voter turnout in the November 8, 2025 Anambra governorship election, with the incumbent Governor Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance APGA maintaining a commanding lead across the 21 local government areas of the state.

The large-scale survey, conducted between October 21 and 31, 2025, sampled 73,500 respondents — 3,500 from each LGA — with a margin of error of ±2%, making it one of the most comprehensive pre-election studies in the state’s history.

According to ADIRM’s findings, an overwhelming 91 percent of respondents confirmed they are registered voters, while 85 percent expressed firm intention to vote, signaling one of the highest projected turnouts in the state’s electoral history. The report attributes this enthusiasm to “growing public confidence in the electoral process and visible government performance.”

In the battle for the hearts of voters, the ruling APGA remains far ahead, securing 85.7 percent support among respondents — a margin that dwarfs its closest competitors. The All Progressives Congress (APC) trails distantly with 7.6 percent, while the Labour Party (LP) holds 5 percent, largely concentrated in urban centres such as Awka, Onitsha, and Nnewi.

When asked which party they believed would win the election, 65 percent of respondents tipped APGA to retain power, compared to 20 percent for APC and 11 percent for LP. Analysts at ADIRM interpreted this as a “perception of continuity founded on satisfaction with ongoing infrastructural and economic reforms.”

The poll paints a portrait of a politically engaged and literate electorate. Nearly a third of respondents (29%) fall within the 26–35 age bracket, the demographic often described as the “engine room” of political participation in the Southeast. Over 85 percent of respondents possess at least secondary education, confirming Anambra’s reputation for informed and analytical voting behaviour.

The gender distribution was nearly even — 54 percent male and 46 percent female — highlighting a balanced civic culture that transcends traditional participation gaps.

Public perception of governance under Soludo appears overwhelmingly positive, according to poll results. A combined 75 percent of respondents rated the current administration as Excellent (34%) or Good (41%), citing the governor’s “transformative impact” on road infrastructure, urban renewal, SME empowerment, and security stabilization.

“The data shows that visible governance outcomes are shaping political loyalty,” the report noted. “Voters are rewarding performance, not promises.”

In terms of campaign visibility, APGA once again outpaces all rivals with a mean score of 4.6 on a 5-point scale, followed by APC (3.4) and LP (3.0). The ruling party’s dominance was attributed to a vibrant grassroots structure, sustained town-hall engagements, and extensive use of community radio to communicate policy milestones.

Door-to-door mobilization emerged as the most influential campaign strategy (29%), followed by manifestos (22%) and community discussions (18%), underscoring the decisive role of personal contact and local trust networks in shaping electoral outcomes. Social media, though influential among urban youth, was rated less impactful in rural LGAs.

When asked about policy expectations from the next administration, respondents prioritized road infrastructure (24%), job creation and youth empowerment (22%), education (16%), and healthcare and security (14% each). Interestingly, these align with the Soludo government’s current areas of emphasis, suggesting that the electorate favors consolidation over radical change.

“The prevailing sentiment,” ADIRM summarized, “is that Anambra should not gamble with progress. The electorate wants the next administration to deepen existing reforms rather than start afresh.”

With just days to the polls, the ADIRM poll concludes that Governor Soludo enters the home stretch with broad-based approval and a formidable support network cutting across demographic lines.

If the poll’s projections hold true, Anambra may witness both a historic voter turnout and a reaffirmation of APGA’s political dominance, setting the stage for a continuity-driven mandate.

As election day draws near, all eyes remain on the 21 LGAs — the true theatre where promises, performance, and public trust will converge in what could be one of the most decisive ballots in Nigeria’s democratic calendar.
