LAGOS: The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has denounced reports that it had shutdown its operations, assuring the public that it is fully active and its fuel supply remains stable.

The company also clarified that the price of Premium Motor Spirit PMS at its gantry remains at N850 per litre, countering speculation of an impending price hike.

Group Chief Branding and Communications Officer, Anthony Chiejina, in a statement in Lagos said the refinery’s management categorically denied reports that truck loading had been suspended or that production was interrupted.

“The Dangote Petroleum Refinery is fully operational. There has been no shutdown, nor has there been any suspension of truck loading activities,” the statement read.

Chiejina explained that the recent tender for Residual Catalytic Oil RCO was a normal part of business operations, often involving large sales and should not be misinterpreted as a sign of production issues.

According to the management, the refinery consistently supplies over 40 million litres of PMS daily, in addition to a steady volume of Automotive Gas Oil (diesel), dismissing speculation of a potential supply shortage.

The statement noted that as the world’s largest single-train refinery, the facility utilizes advanced predictive and preventive maintenance protocols to ensure continuous operations, and routine maintenance does not impact overall fuel supply.

The refinery challenged those spreading the misinformation to prove their claims by placing orders for daily deliveries.

“We invite interested buyers to place immediate orders for up to 40 million litres of PMS daily and 15 million litres of AGO daily, for the next 90 days,” the statement said.

The company reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and Nigeria’s energy security, urging the public to disregard what it described as “unfounded rumours sponsored by unscrupulous and unpatriotic individuals seeking to undermine the country’s energy independence for their own selfish interests.”

The refinery warned that such individuals might be attempting to create a false impression of domestic supply shortages to justify the importation of substandard fuels.
