KADUNA: The Kaduna State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP has accused security agencies of “abducting” its House of Representatives candidate for Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency, Princess Esther Ashivelli Dawaki, alongside 25 members of her campaign team.

Speaking at a news conference on Saturday in Kaduna, the State Chairman of the PDP, Sir Edward Percy Masha, claimed the incident occurred when security personnel stormed a hotel in Malali, allegedly targeting the party’s Campaign Council Chairman, Hon. Hussein Ahmed-Kero.

“When they could not find him, they went after our candidate and her supporters, taking them away unlawfully,” Masha alleged.

He condemned the development as an act of intimidation allegedly orchestrated by the ruling All Progressives Congress APC, demanding the immediate release of all those detained.

“The PDP strongly denounces this reckless abuse of power by the APC and its collaborators. We call for the urgent and unconditional release of our candidate and supporters,” he told journalists.

Masha appealed to President Bola Tinubu, the Inspector General of Police, the Director General State Services, the Chief of Army Staff and the Chief of Defence Staff to intervene and ensure justice is served.

He also urged civil society organizations, pro-democracy groups and all Nigerians to resist attempts to manipulate the electoral process through intimidation and fear.

According to the PDP chairman, the ruling APC was resorting to desperate tactics because of its dwindling popularity.

“This action is proof that the APC is gripped by fear of electoral defeat. But no level of intimidation can shield it from rejection by the people,” he declared.

The PDP assured its members and supporters that it remains committed to protecting their rights while keeping the public informed as the situation unfolds.
