
ABUJA: Former First Lady of Imo State, Dr Nkechi Rochas Okorocha, has bagged a distinguished fellowship in Political Economy courtesy of the International Institute of Experts on Political Economy and Administration (IIEPEA-Canada).
Speaking at the 2025 IIEPEA Leadership Summit held in Abuja, IIEPEA President, Prof. Tunji Asaolu, described the event as a platform for addressing Nigeria’s pressing socio-economic and political challenges in a rapidly changing world.
According to him, “the performance of nations has been profoundly shaped by political choices, economic strategies, and the social fabric within which they operate.
“We must acknowledge the substantial hurdles—corruption, inequality, weak infrastructure, and governance issues—that continue to obstruct our growth potential.”
Prof. Asaolu added that the evolving global order, marked by climate change and technological disruptions, requires bold innovation and collective action.
Dr Okorocha who is the founder of the Women of Divine Destiny Initiative WODDI, also received a Certificate of Confirmation as Global Expert in Administrative Management.
The summit which had as its theme, “Political Economy of Nation Building: The World’s Unfinished Business,” brought together scholars, policymakers and development experts to examine governance and sustainable growth.
Keynote presentations were delivered by Prof. Mabel Evwierohoma of Yakubu Gowon University, Abuja and the Minister of Youth Development, Comrade Ayo Olawande.
The event also featured the induction of ambassadors as Special Emissaries into the United World Congress of Diplomats UN-WCD alongside the IIEPEA, as well as the conferment of fellowships on other distinguished participants.
Expressing gratitude for the honour, Dr Okorocha said; “I am deeply humbled to be conferred with the Certificate of Confirmation as Global Expert in Administrative Management and decorated as a Distinguished Fellow and Global Expert in Political Economy by IIEPEA. I remain committed to advancing effective governance, impactful policies, and sustainable initiatives that uplift communities and strengthen our society for the greater good.”
